Umbrellas:  They were indeed a symbol of jazz expression for Leo Meiersdorff.  From his friend Michel Legrand's score of "The Umbrellas of Cherbourg" to experiencing New Orleans Jazz Second Liners when he lived in New Orleans, Leo embedded umbrellas in many of his paintings.  They are meaningful.
