While in California for the first part of his American jazz sojourn, Leo sketched and painted in all media as he visited legendary jazz clubs, such as "Shelley's Manne-Hole" befriending many a musician.  Originally created as pen and ink wash drawings in 1961, these works are a rare collection of Leo's earlier period as an artist.
